Trouble with PayAsYouGo LTE

I have a MTN LTE PayAsYouGo sim for a device brought with me from the US several weeks ago, knowing the LTE band was not compatible, but expecting to get a compatible device soon.

I bought a Huawei B593s-601 last week and have been using it, but only with a G3 connection. The device reports a status of 'BLOCKED' when switching it to G4.

I have made futile efforts to get help with this via an MTN store, the MTN Network Department via phone, and dialing 173. Part of the problem is, being a foreigner, I have trouble understanding people sometimes.

I would appreciate any advice, maybe I just have to wait longer?

I am happy to see threads like this where an issue is resolved even when the other channels have failed :)
