I had the same experience with the SE V800. Did not give it too much thought as i am using the sim in a data card anyway, but the sim was definately not recognised in the SE.

Some phones just will not work with a 128K SIM.

A quick test this morning shows that a Nokia 2100 will not accept a 128K SIM but a older 3310 will and even an old Nokia 5110 & 6110 work fine with a 128K SIM!

An old Sony Ericsson T100 works OK as does the T610, T630 and K700i but I've not found a V600i that will work with a 128K SIM.

Without looking at service manuals, I'd assume that the SIM interface is simply not able to page the second 64K.

I'm sure if you speak to Virgin Mobile they will swap the SIM for a 64K one.

SIM compatibility has been an issue outside of South Africa where most early SIM cards were 5 volt. Most modern phones only accept 3 volt SIM's. SA was late on the GSM train which in many ways was an advantage!
