Hi

I don't know if anyone can help me. but I'll tell my problem's, and maybe someone out there can help.

I'm on the M-Web WiMAX trial (no, not through MyBroadband), and everything was working great; great speeds and everything, till about a month ago, when Mweb started getting issues with their tower in Sandton. That was fixed, but then, my connection started getting dropped very often (about every 5 minutes, to every hour). I phoned Mweb, and they told me to do something (connect the ethernet cable straight to my pc, without going through the router) and it helped a bit: it disconnects every 2 - 7 hours now. But that's still not good enough! And it goes through periods of not being able to download, yet is still connected. I've phoned, but they can't seem to help me....

Well you could try asking them to come out and have a look to see if there is not a problem otherwise it's a trail and this could be aprt of the process :(

Ring the company and get them to upload the old Firmware on to your unit, this can be done remotely.
Sometimes when they upgrade the system it can get corrupt
It seems like a problem i encountered before..

Maybe your Windows dialup PPPOE is corrupt? My PC's PPPOE dialup was freezing every few hours so i did a windows refresh and it seems ok now...

Hmmm.. been having the same issues, but since last night my internet has been down completely - been having some connectivety problems over the weekend where the connection would drop every 10 - 15 mins. I use a router as well, so tried plugging it into my PC and configuring the PPPOE dialup, but worked for about 10mins and now completely dead. I even tried connecting it directly into my PS3, but no luck. I noticed that on the alvarion unit they installed are 3 lights - one for power, one for ethernet, and one for wireless(i think) - all 3 of them are always on, but since the weekend the ethernet light has been flashing. I tried the reset button, but also no luck. Then tried phoning Mweb and they put me through to the wimax department, but after holding for about 30 mins i hanged up, phoned an hour later - same thing, so cant even get through to them.

Im on the Mweb Cape Town trial.

OK - my Wimax service have been fixed.... phoned MWeb and they went through a few troubleshooting steps.... couldnt sort it out so they logged a call with the company that installed the stuff. Shame the poor guy came out the next day and sat around for about 2 hours trying to fix it, but couldnt... so the next day came over with a brand new Billion BiPAC 7401VGP ADSL router - very nice !! The range of the wireless is amazingly better than the surecom router i had. That also didnt work, so he got up on the roof - rewired the whole thing from the dish to my room and finally got it working again - after another 2 hours.

Thanks to Eugene from Gondwana !!!

Mweb Wimax - alwayz on, alwayz stable, no cap internet for free !!!
