My DSL Line is sync'd but will not connect to the internet with any of the login details I have including the Telkom Guest account.

The modem (tested with 2 modems) is reporting that there is no DNS server or no server available to connect to. Does anyone know what the problem could be, or have experienced anything similar? I've had the line tested over the phone and the port reset, but still no joy.

Had the same problem a while ago, called the ISP and Telkom, neither of them had a clue on how to fix it. Eventually it just came right on its own again.

I had the same problem about a week ago, synching but not connecting to any of my accounts. Techie said it was a problem "in my area." It came right the following morning.

Thanks, this is 3rd day of waiting for it to fix itself, so I'm in the process of logging a fault.

Log the fault anyway. Is the router in "normal" or bridge mode? Are the accounts active?

The router is in normal mode. I tested using a NetGear and Billion router to make sure. I also used the guest@telkomadsl account to double check, but there's nothing happening. I have 3 different logins all are active and all don't work.

Have you asked Telkom to reset the DSLAM?

No I've not, but that's a bloody good idea. Since I've logged the fault I'll suggest it to them when they eventually contact me. I assume it's something they can only do on site?

At the exchange, I think. Telkom helpdesk gets it done pretty sharply... 10 minutes or so while I held on IIRC.

Is it a new ADSL line?
was the line a self install???

The line is 2 years old. But I'll try setting the Dns manually, thanks for the details.
Nothing from any technician yet

Magneto, mine is a new line, I did a self Install a verified it on the website .... Wait ... the DSL line get stable for about a minute. I just manually set the dns you provided. Let me see .....

My DSL indicator only gets stable for a while and the Internet indicator also come one, but this last for few minutes. I am going to try different DNS from those you provided.

Had my line repaired finally. The techie could not explain why it happened so they switched my port apparently from the old technology to the hot new techology at the exchange. That's what they said!

I am able to connect to the Internet on my new line now but I get disconnected often. Surely that is not normal, right? Do I have to report a fault to Telkom or what?
