My internet is constantly up and down as the Telkom infrastructure in the area is very poor.

Up until now I would just log a fault and they would send someone around to fiddle with the lines and then we would be back online.

This time Telkom tell me my line is 'syncing' fine and now I'm not sure what to do. I am inclined to believe them as the light on my router is green and not red (which is usually the case when it's down)

Could this be my service provider (MWEB)? How does one isolate the issue? Does anyone know any tests I can run to confirm that the issue is not with my Telkom line or to help me pin point the issue?

Any help or nudging in the appropriate direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Capped? Do local sites work?

Can you log into the router?

Called Mweb?

Hi there,
It would be helpful if you could supply some of the information from your router about the connection. in particular the line attenuation and the noise margin. You will usually find these by logging into the router and looking at the router status tab (it may not be called that) You can also look under any tabs that talk about status.

The line attenuation you want to be a low figure and ideally the noise margin a large figure.

Post them here and I or many other will be able to assist you.

Warmest regards

Tim

Thanks for the help.

All sorted! Turns out it was my line, despite Telkom initially saying it was fine. Oops!
