I'm having some issues with an old Gemini gate motor that's operated by a spring trigger. The spring works most of the time, but increasingly it just fails to stop the gate opening in time causing the gate to open past the spring and then manual correction is needed. Anyway, I thought I'd tap into the vast information database that is MyBB for some advice. Does anyone know what needs to be set / fixed / replaced to get the spring trigger working correctly again?

That spring arm does operate two micro switches in a plastic housing. One to stop when closing and one to stop when opening.
If you are a bit mechanically minded, you can remove that complete unit and get a replacement or try to find what is wrong in the mechanism. You might be lucky that the switch is only loose, and you could tighten it.

I personally think the switch contacts are worn or only dirty, get some contact cleaner and spray it into the switch while operating the switch. It might work, but there is no guaranty. Otherwise, you can try to get a replacement switch from an electronic supplier like Communica if you are lucky.
You can email Geminy at [email protected] in Pretoria or phone +27 (0) 12 742 3950 or go to the website https://geminigates.co.za/

Good luck with your effort.

if the micro switches inside are the standard flat ones with a little flat button ,any lawnmower place will have new basic switches .just take a photo before disconnecting as they have no and nc contacts with a common .just eyeball mini micro switch on google for a look see .

If I remember correctly, it looks like this one.

Awesome. Thanks guys. Just to confirm, would the switch taking longer/requiring more pressure from the spring be a sign of a failing switch?

maybe .the contacts inside are maybe a bit burnt .try spray it out with a contact cleaner .just not any Q Products they eat pladtic sometimes .even compressed air through the gap by the push button.even a generic silicon spray lube .if its better then they are worn .not expensive if you can get them out
