Hi...Is it possible to manually download m$ true fonts for intrepid without using the msttcorefonts package? I asking because of a bad internet connection.

AFAIK Ubuntu downloads packages using wget with resume enabled.

Correct. This is true for both ftp and http repositories (many ftp servers do not support resume). Also, msttcorefonts is the only package that does this, to the best of my knowledge.

Yes. It works across all versions of Linux, if I'm not mistaken.

Hi OP,

What I do is go to a Windows box, C:/Windows/Fonts and copy all the mstt fonts I want, and paste them in your ~/.fonts folder. This is a hidden folder in your home directory. [ctrl+H makes them visible]. If it is not there, create it (NOTE the . in front of the word font). Dump the fonts you want into this folder.

Open terminal and type
fc-cache

and you are done.
Customize fonts as you please in System>Preferences
