Try to open Bungie.net?

Anyone try and open bungie.net?

For some reason this becomes impossible after a while, is there a routing problem to all things Halo related? The site wont work, and because of that the xbox cant connect to the matchmaking servers.

SAI! :(
 
Well after rebooting the router for the 20th time, it works, happened this weekend as well, where anything Bungie related would time out... Anyone got any theories?
 
I tried to load the website now - seems unreachable - could be routes down or something.
Noticed this with google the other day and another website I visit on a regular basis.
 
wow this is weird, still cant connect to bungie,.net, is nobody else perplexed why our most glorious and holy tubes from Cell C cant route to bungie.net? !

I just confirmed it's a DNS issue.

I configured my CellC connection to use Google DNS and it worked.

Without using Google DNS it doesn't open.
 
@Teraside Cell c is aware of the DNS issue. There seems to be an issue of routing and they are trackingthe route of the cause.

Well the original poster was clearly not aware that CellC was aware. Why do you choose to respond today only after we've verified it's DNS?

Thats why i directed it at you and not the original poster considering as you were the one to find that it was a DNS issue. My apologies for not responding to the thread sooner *bows head in shame

Gee so is this why Halo reach hardly ever works on xbox live?

Lol everything always has to be an issue.
If i change my dns settings like Teraside did, will it stuff my xbox live up?

This is all such a mission for someone who is not technically minded.... should have got 384k adsl instead.

It won't stuff up your Xbox. Just test it.
 
just wanna know howcome sometimes it works and other times it doesnt??? I must say tho, that it is getting worse and worse of late, coinciding with my ever slowing connection speeds.

Because that's how DNS works. DNS is how an IP Address of a Server\WebPage is resolved to it's Hostname. This means the hostname: www.cellc.co.za has an IP Address, but DNS resolves the IP to cellc.co.za so we don't have to remember a Gazillion numbers :p

Bungie.net has an IP address as well, so does the Halo Servers, but CellC's DNS Servers aren't resolving the IP's to the hostnames, that's why it doesn't work.

If I was at CellC I would just repair their Connection on their DNS Server LOL. It's just that easy, it clears the DNS Cache\Stale Records and Bob's your uncle :D

I just wanted to know if there anything else to configure, other than just inputting the static DNS server addresses. Funny thing is, I disconnected my Cell-C, input the static DNS entries, and re-connected via the dashboard. It seems to wipe the static DNS addresses.

Yes, I'm having authentication issues on 3G. EDGE works 100%, but 3G sometimes stops responding, and when I disconnect and reconnect, I get either 619 or 638 errors. I've reported it, and they are investigating the base station. I just thought the Google DNS may assist... (One more thing to try out and cross off the list...)

Ok I understand.

I created a new connection on the CellC Dashboard, because I also saw you can't enter the DNS values in the Connection properties.
So I basically Viewed the CellC connection, created a new one as CellC, but with GoogleDNS. I called it CellCGoogleDNS as well lol.

Give it a test that way, it works fine for me. Leave the standard CellC connection there.
