Hi there,
I have multiple shares on a Windows 2003 SP2 server. Recently I suddenly am unable to connect to the shares, and remapping the drives on various computers has not helped. They just don't want to map. It keeps telling me on my Windows 7 workstation the Network password is incorrect when I try map a drive on the 2003 server. To rule out as many options as possible, this is what I have done:
1. Changed the password I am using on the server for the share. In fact I have created 3 other accounts for testing, and none of them have helped. They all fail with the same error.
2. Have used a Windows 2008 server, a Vista, and another Windows 7 workstation to try map a number of the drives the 2003 server is sharing.
3. Have uninstalled, "repaired", disabled/enabled, and updated the drivers of the nic on the windows 2003 computer. I have also added another server nic as I thought the initial nic was maybe faulty, and it still didn't help.
4. Tried a different IP address with the server.
5. Tried to browse the network and map a drive from that direction.
6. Restarted all computers involved... multiple times.
7. Removed the shares, and recreated them again. Including trying to setup other shares on the server in case the old shares somehow were a problem.
8. Have checked the permissions and ownership of the drives where the shares are, and reapplied the rights.
9. Removed the Windows 2003 firewall, checked the scope of the nic doing the file sharing. I use a 3rd party antivirus on the server, but it is not a firewall, but still disabled it in case it was somehow causing a problem.
I still can't map the drives... any words of wisdom?
