That's pretty much what I gave you in the second sample, except using a CTE instead of the raw table. Glad you figured it out though!

Your results were a bit different, but I didnt have enough knowledge to edit it to do exactly what I needed it to do. Thanks though! Really appreciate all the suggestions

Hey, I can't help it... I'm trying to convert our payroll integration specialist to XQuery as well. It just makes so much more sense when you're actually working with data that has to be output to XML in some form or another.
