I know it's a bit of a long shot but does anyone know of any (preferably free) software for cafeteria (tuckshop) management?

I'm wanting to start switching our school over to a cashless society so I need something that:

- allows accounts to be imported (CSV or whatever)
- works with stock and barcode scanning
- works with accounts so students can be billed

I've tried LemonPOS (which doesn't do accounts properly), PSCafepro (which is terrible), phpPointOfSale (which is also terrible) and Tuxshop (which is incomprehensible).

Only problem with Floreant is that it's geared at restaurants really. I should probably have specified that it's essentially just a shop for the students to buy food and so on in. They have ID cards that would link to an account but beyond that...

I'll adapt my final year IS project for a nominally massive fee? :)

Wish I had the time . . . :|

You could try OpenBravo... I think it should cover all your requirements.

It is open source software and works great on Linux eg Ubuntu 9.10.

Works even better with a touch sensitive screen! :)

Make sure you try the OpenBravo POS and NOT the OpenBravo ERP.
