Made some for the Xmas party I was hosting. Expected it to be dry and tasteless, so made lamb and a million sides as back-up. Maybe it was the way I cooked it; who knows. It was delicious. And every last scrap was eaten.

I helped make a game hen>chicken>duck>goose>turkey>ostrich* once. Took six of us to carry it to the oven we had to build to cook it in. :)

*I'm 90% certain I'm forgetting a bird.

I tried roasting the Turduckenail (that supposedly includes a quail as well, although I could only identify 3 types of meat in it) but it was a bit of a flop. Probably mostly due to the fact that I know very little about roasts and even less about roasting in a halogen oven. :)

Did you find a popup timer in yours? Mine said it included one, but I didn't find anything in it.

Unfortunately I discovered the dawa around the same time…

Hmm, that looks like the african version of a mojito, should go down well on a hot summers day. Where does one get dawa sticks from and what exactly is dawa?

A dawa stick is just a thick muddling stick used to mash (or muddle) the ingredients. I use a thickish dowel I got from the hardware store. Careful - those drinks can sneak up on you and hit you with a sledge hammer. :o

Ah ok, you can see I'm a beer drinker. Mojitos have the same effect on me, only ever have one.

I did see that one, but thought it was a bit much.
It did include the pop-up timer which I found to be incredibly useless - it never popped up.

The way I did it: Defrosted and popped it in a ziplock bag with yoghurt and a bit of salt and left that overnight. Wiped off the marinade, put it into the roasting pan, put some fresh sage, thyme and parsley on it, covered the lot in foil and put it into the oven on 150 for... about 4ish hours (wasn't really timing it). Poured off the liquids released throughout, but didn't bother basting it. About halfway through, added some chunks of onion, garlic and carrot (didn't serve with it, just used as aromatics). When we were close to serving, removed the foil, turned the oven to 200 and let it brown on top, then turned the monster and let it brown at the bottom. Made a gravy with the liquids removed towards the end before browning.

Hmm, you went to way more trouble than I did.

If I decide to try it again I'll do it your way, should work better than mine anyway. :)
