At least 30 people killed in blasts before planned march in Turkish capital to protest against conflict between state and Kurdish militants

At least 30 people have been killed and more than 100 wounded in a terrorist attack on a peace rally in the centre of the Turkish capital, according to reports.

Twin explosions outside Ankara’s main train station on Saturday morning appear to have targeted hundreds of people who had gathered to protest violence between authorities and Kurdish separatist group, the PKK.

Turkish government officials said the explosion was a terrorist attack and are investigating the claim that a suicide bomber was responsible. Turkey’s prime minister, Ahmet Davutoğlu, is to hold a meeting with government officials and security chiefs in response to the attack, his office said.

The country’s interior ministry confirmed 30 people were killed in the blasts and 126 were wounded. A Reuters reporter at the scene saw at least 20 bodies covered by flags, with bloodstains and body parts scattered on the road.

Witnesses said the blasts were seconds apart shortly after 10am and were so powerful they rocked nearby high-rise buildings.

Some people added ambulances could not immediately reach the scene of the attack, and that police obstructed the quick evacuation of the wounded from the square. A Turkish MP, Sirri Süreyya Önder, also claimed suspicious vehicle and another suspicious package had been found and that bomb disposal experts had been called to the scene.

Pics in link.

And a supporter of terrorists and actively against Israel. Its no longer the free society it was.
An Obama supporter doesn't mean a US supporter

They are a member of NATO and a key US ally. That's bipartisan.

They are Islamic and have to stand with their Palestinian co-religionists but they are hardly actively anti-Israeli to a significant degree the way HAMAS is. No Islamic country will be as pro-Israel as you would like them to be.

Right keep believing that.
As soon as I get to a pc I will post links about the flotilla . Turkey violating naval blockade.
It's all on Google.
Under the current Turkish PRICK of a president relations have deteriorated probably because of his hard line Muslim stance and support of terror groups

Regardless of that they are still key US and European allies. They control a strategic area of land and the Bosphorus Strait. Even Russia is OK with them although recent tensions. The tensions were made a bigger deal by NATO central command then Turkey herself.

I have other historical reasons to like the Turks but they stretch back to the 1700s.

Turkey isn't the turkey it was
It's becoming a hardline Muslim country under the current regime.

Turkey was always Muslim. Once it pulls out of NATO, starts sending terrorists into Europe and US, I will change my stance.

You see people's views don't change overnight and you have to understand that. Reading headlines on Fox News or Daily Fail is not proof of anything. (This is the reference to the way Turks think and not to you or me.)

Correct. The whole of the ME is a bloody mess. Even their own people are fighting between each other.
This is only going to escalate. NATO and the UN are basically useless

NATO's job is to defend Europe and North America from aggression. So far nobody in the Middle East has shown any aggression to NATO/NA except perhaps Al Qaeda and ISIL. But then NATO has been bombing ISIL for a year with not much to show for it, although we don't know what would have happened if they did not bomb them. They obviously want to preserve the non-extremist rebels. So their hands are tied somewhat.

This. And it's only getting worse.

Qualitative assessments such as "getting worse" don't stand up. There have to fixed criteria. Turkey has to sponsor anti-European/Anti-US and anti-ally terrorism to a significant degree. They have to pull out of NATO and stop co-operating with the West.

When it comes to Israel, it won't be good if the Middle East becomes united because then they will focus on Israel, because their support of Palestine will intensify.

The problem is the world has changed.
NATO and the UN have no place anymore. They have no power. No force and no teeth and everyone knows it.
The world has changed.
Now or should I say next the wars will be fought from within
And that's what's happening now.
Isis and Islam are implanting themselves all over Europe. This isn't going to end well.

Europe has known worse and gave back in kind. You forgot about the Reconquista and what happened in Vienna in 1863. Or maybe you didn't know because in SA the only history taught was about the glory days of the British Empire. ;)

The Islamic threat to Europe is exaggerated. But there are political reasons for doing so.

The UN still works. Its hands are tied because few want to contribute and Sec Council can veto anything. Also people don't want to die for peace somewhere else.

But again it's a different world.
I will read up on it thanks
I supposed ww2 was also probably worse but are we not headed into ww3?

It's the same Europeans. Just some have gotten lazy and irreligious, but in tough times people find religion or the courage. Still Islam is not a threat it's made out to be and the threat it was. There really is Islamophobia around. The situation is nuanced of course.

No we are not headed for WW3 with Russia. That will not happen. The Russians are the same as Russians in the USSR with just more sense now and less leftist propaganda in their hearts. There was no WW3 with the USSR, there will not be with Putin.

1863?

:erm: Jeez dude, it's 2015. Lets move back to the Victorian era and throw our excrement on the street.
