Could be fun if it works with our FTTH :)

Turris Omnia

Home router is necessary to connect you to the Internet but it is idle most of the time, just eating electricity. Why not use it for more tasks? With powerful hardware, Turris Omnia can handle gigabit traffic and still be able to do much more. You can use it as a home server, NAS, printserver and it even has a virtual server built-in.

$506 and then you need to get ram and an HDD for it.

Yeah and the Turris Omnia is estimated to go for about $100 when released.

But, that being said, I'll stick to Mikrotik routers. Mikrotik routers are very stable, and does what it is suppose to do. A thing of preference I guess.

This sounds like nothing more than a router running DD-WRT.

My less-than-half-the-price TP-Link running DD-WRT can do all those things. Plus at the bottom it says "Open hardware running free operating system based on OpenWrt", so I'm pretty sure it's running DD-WRT.
