TV card recommendation

Only drawback of a TV Tuner card in South Africa is the limited channels :) I don't watch SABC 1, SABC 2, SABC 3 or E-TV. Now if I could get a card that would accept my Multichoice card, my HTPC would be complete :)

What would you recommend for a notebook? saw the gigabyte and was thinking about getting it, not sure. Does it support the new digital terrestrial broadcasts? wsa trying to figure out.

If I understand correctly, you will need a set-top-box (~R700 once-off) to watch the new digital broadcasts, irrespective of what tv or tv tuner you have. And yes, the Gigabyte U8000 will work with the set-top-box.

I am using the Gigabyte U8000, OS Windows 7 Professional. I purchased the card from Acumen Technologies in Olivedale, Jhb about a year ago at R465. Google the company for contact details. Anyway I originally used the drivers / software that came with it for Vista, but with Windows 7 (32-bit and then 64-bit) I have downloaded drivers and using Windows Media Center instead.

Anyway, here is the URL for the Windows 7 drivers ...

I have seen other TV cards, but can't comment until I put them in my own system won't comment.

Works perfectly in Media Center

Thanks

I've picked up a problem with the Gigabyte U8000. If I set it to record a scheduled program, either in Media Center or in the included Presto PVR software, the software does not change the tuner to the correct channel when recording starts but just records from the channel it was on when I last switched it off. Anyone else have this problem or how to fix it?
