HI guys

Still trying to decide on a new TV. The two I'm wavering between are the samsung series 6 6000 55" and the Samsung Series 7 JS 7200 50". I quite like the size of the 55" and both are similar in price. But will I be able to download Netflix and iPlayer etc on the series 6? Does anyone have an experience with these two products?

I have a series 6 and have experimented a little with Plex and to be completely honest it just isn't worth it. The interface (even before running Plex) is slow, it takes forever to negotiate any menu and I found it generally unpleasant.

I used some spare parts lying around at home and build myself a HTPC with a cheap little IR remote from Takealot and it is miles more satisfying to use than SmartTV part on it.

Maybe go into a shop somewhere that has stock and ask them to show you the SmartTv menu and try moving around in it...?

Yeah. Rather get the bigger screen and something else to play Netflix.

Plex/youtube/Showmax on my JU6000 is not slow. Must be something else with your setup.

Yes both those apps are there. For iPlayer just change your tv to UK region if you have unotelly.

Wont rule out the possibility that something was wrong with my setup. Didnt fiddle with it too much because I was planning on building the HTPC in any case and that worked as expected from the start.

My first reaction would still be to go for the bigger screen if you have the space...

if you change your smarthub regional settings to US on the series 6 tv, it will auto install the US apps including netflix.. i did this and its super easy once you manage to find the correct button combination to press on your remote.. the netflix app on my tv has no issues, easy to browse and not slow.. pretty sure though that samsung has already released an update to add netflix to sa region smarthub..
