Hi,

Just curious if my TV has a dead pixel and is still under warranty will the manufacturers honor the warranty or are dead pixels not covered?

It's a 55" LG TV and was bought from Makro.

Anyone have this issue before?

One dead pixel? There is usually a minimum of something like 5 dead pixels before they replace it, depends on the manufacturers policies though.

Found this for LG (not sure how much it varies between country):

LCD displays typically contain a small number of pixels that do not function normally. Your display has been inspected and is in compliance with manufacturer's specifications, indicating that any pixel defects do not affect the operation or use of you applicable to display. Without prejudice to generality of the foregoing, Dead Pixel not exceeding 7 dots is within factory specification and is not considered a defect under this warranty.

Great thanks for that.

I just noticed it earlier when I was very close up so doesn't affect viewing in anyway was just curious if it has happened to others.

Not sure about LG but Samsung is great, they replaced the whole panel on my smart TV for one dead pixel. All I did was log the issue on their online system and they dispatched two technicians to my home a few days later with the new panel.

For my LG plasma they replaced the panel for one intermittent pixel. Murphys law the pixel wouldnt get stuck when they came to view, we sat waiting for 10 min for it to act up. Great service.
