Anyone know what the "TV function" option in some of the high-end vehicles is capable of? I see for example bmw offering it with their "prof navigation" option. I'm assuming its more than just a dvd player and you can pick up digital channels

the old old old 7 series, the one that was in the bond movie, that one had a tv already, brilliant car !
The TV signal (analogue & digital) is directional...
Notice how you have to 'aligne' the areal or DSTV dish to get decent signal.
The problem is cars are usualy mobile...
I have one of those units in my car and it's a good idea gone bad (in SA at least).
The SABC signal strenght is pathetic at best when stationary (at home) let alone when moving. I can hear the audio though.
You can forget about digital chanels as you will need a decoder in the car too.
So, for me, car TV usability = 0.01
