TV Recommendations OLED/QLED...?

Going to be that guy. Bought an LG C1 in 2021 and I am so happy with it that I'd replace it with another C series TV if it died, even while knowing they spy on me.

It is such a pleasure using the thing, even after all these years. One of the few expensive things I have bought and not regretted.

A screen can never be to big. Do you walk it a IMAX ands say... no to big for me.
Get the biggest one you can afford that fits the space where it's going to be placed.

Actually that's incorrect, a TV too small not good a TV too big same issue.
You shouldn't be moving your head to cover the screen you're viewing, plus you shouldn't be seeing the pixels. Hence why there is optimal viewing distances.

Lot's of discussion online between the LG you linked and the Samsung S90F which is about the same kind of price bracket. They say LG better in darker rooms, Samsung better in brighter rooms and for gaming on the 55". But overall it's much of a muchness.

I went for the S90D (last years model Samsung) and I am delighted with it. But I reckon if you could get one substantially cheaper than the other then that would be a good way to pick.

Must admit, reaally like the pricing on these, the OLED LG I was looking at is double the price for a smaller screen.

Thanks, yeah, honestly the "bright room thing" is not a considering as i do 99% of my viewing at night or early morning, but yeah, am thinking price might be the deciding factor.

They were both about R30k at the time I bought and was considering what to do when the anSamsung appeared on one day only for just under R19k, so I grabbed it.

If it had been the LG I’d have easily taken that instead.

I reckon it’s so close that you’re better with a grand or two in your pocket than putting it down to specs.

Well my thinking around looking at the LG OLED was that if I going to be looking at something most days for the next 5-10 years, would prefer it to be really good ( A friend got one of the first 55" LG Oleds on the market back when they where about R50k and I looked epic -but obviously other tech has caught up). Although price is a factor, it's not a massive factor, but I certaintly don't want to throw money away for a barely perceptiable qincrease in quality.

In cost, brighter rooms and no burn-in risk sure. Plus with dimming zones they can get really really close.

If you factor everything in, cost, ability to be used in brighter rooms and the number of dimming zones and no burn-in risk it's a definite competitor..

I am extremely happy with my TCL c6k..

And then of course there is the debate that most TV's are getting bigger, my previous TV was Full HD at 43", I thought 55" would still work as tho couch is about 2m away but obviously with higher res, that isn't as much of an issue so maybe can get to 65".....

That's a very good point, I almost upgraded to a bigger TV recently because of an amazing sale price , luckily I checked if it would fit and all things considered it would have been too much of a tight squeeze once my external speakers were factored in so I left it.
I would have also probably needed to upgrade the wall unit thing it would stand on because the existing one was too small, I can't mount the TV on the wall for various reasons.

Those mini led sure do look good on price and features

But the LG oleds are premium TV’s, and this includes construction/build quality/materials - if this matters to you.

I’m also a primary curtained/night watcher/gamer - not sure I would ever not go OLED for my next TV - and I’m still using an “old” and “dim” CX55. Picture quality is amazing. I remember the first time playing Ori and the blind forest - damn that guy was bright
