So last month my tv tuner decided it would be awesome to just pack up. Not going to waste money on repairs if i send it back to matrix ill just get another chinese brand that will last me 3 months. OVER IT:mad: atleast we got tons of series and wildlife stuff to watch

I need a proper tv tuner that actually works with windows 7, one that works on the first install and doesn't need to run compatibility mode during install. One that doesnt need to get hit slightly in order for it to scan channels properly.

bad experience with the usb 2.0 vivid series.....

max im willing to pay is R600, ive seen some at takealot but i need some proof that they actually work fine.

i dont need a normal tv in the living room because me and the wifey stay in a small house with no kids, so the samsung 27 inch led works just fine.

ag come on guys , 130 views and no answers :D

surely theres someone in RSA who uses tv tuners on pc ?!

I've got a Hauppauge, and have been very happy with it.
Slightly more expensive (about R750 when I bought it on Amazon) but it just works, from first plugin.

Came with a nice Windows Media Center remote too, which was a nice bonus ;)

Same problem....

I have a winfast tv2000 card and had the same issue with win 7....spent a week trawling the net...finally packed it in but eureka moment hit me.....i had dual boot with Ubuntu 10 on my desktop. Booted into ubuntu...loaded some drivers...not winfast drivers but similar...searched Ubuntu forums...got the necessary scripts...and voila...month later...everything working. Schlep is to boot into ubuntu when i wanna watch the tube...but i have made peace with it. Will buy a Hauppage tvtuner soon though..

Hope this helped...good luck :p

strange, my winfast tv2000xp card works without having to install any additional drivers using tvtime on debian.

but my recommendation would be for something like the pvr-150 if they still make it (or its successor).

edit - obviously by successor i mean a card that can take the same type of outputs your decoder has.

.........sorted the tv tuner problem out about a year ago...cant remember the details...not really concerned now as i am buying myself some new toys for Xmas.....its going to be a whole new ball game...

Thanks for the advice M...
