Hi guys, I've been doing a LOT of research the past few weeks on TV cards and I can't make up my mind.
I want to watch DSTV (non-PVR decoder) through my pc monitor and have the PVR functions and also watch DVD's and play Xbox through my pc monitor. So, I basically want to replace my current TV with my PC LCD monitor. I have a AMD 3200+ processor and a nVidia 7600GT graphics card with a gig ram. Do I really need a MPEG encoder chip? Oh, and I have windows XP and I do not have media centre.
I will be changing channels on my DSTV decoder and not on the TV card, unless I want to switch between DVD player, XBOX and DSTV.
Also I have a huge external harddrive. Can that be used to save recorded video?
First of all, I would like to know if it is worth it to get this instead of an actual HDTV and a PVR decoder and secondly, what card can you recommend for my purposes. I was looking at the COMPRO E650, but I'm not sure if things will run smoothly on my pc....
PLEASE HELP!!!
