Hi, i'm looking to buy a tv tuner card but am not really clued up. All i really want is to be able to watch whatever channel is on the TV. From my understanding i would just need to connect s-video or RCA cables from the tv to the card and it would show whatever is shown on the TV? Or does the aerial plug directly into the card and you have to tune in each channel just like a tv? I read that you wouldn't pick up channels with it because they aren't DBS-T2 or something, which is what is used in SA. I found this card which looks like it has all the features, please can anyone give advice on weather this would work here. What about the external usb tuners, how do they work because i dont see any connections or anything to plug anything into them, so how would it get a signal, and i guess i wouldn't be able to connect it to my TV using s-video? Sorry for the bad explanation.

This card is used for satellite reception as it is an internal pci digital satellite ( DVB-S) TV tuner card, and does not appear to support the new digital terrestrial broadcast standard which will be in effect from about 2014 - DVB-T2 - http://www.southafrica.info/about/media/dvbt-140111.htm - so you would be limited to accessing any free-to-air satellite broadcasts only (DVB-S).

Your best bet would be a hybrid card - analog & digital (DVB-T2) - as this would allow you to receive the current SABC / E-TV analog terrestrial as well as the future DVB-T2 digital terrestrial signals via a co-axial aerial input from an external antenna.

Hi,thanks for the info, but is there no way to just connect the TV to the tuner the same way you can connect your PC to TV using the graphics card? Would signal still matter if you just wanted to watch whatever is currently on the TV screen without needing the aeriel?
