Twitch Buffer Issues?

Do you Twitch mostly on desktop?

Exclusively on desktop. Uninstalled the mobile app after seeing how many ads it pushes.

There is no fee to change, just the nightmare dealing with openserve to cancel your current line and order a new one through us. They dont have a "migrate/move function" as yet.

What the hell. Does this ordeal involve downtime?

Interesting thread and read pertaining Twitch and Livestreamer using Streamlink Twitch GUI.

Set it up myself just now, and works much better than normal Twitch via the browser. Although I'm not on fibre any more, 1080p streams run brilliantly now on my 12mb ADSL connection :D

720p60 does give issues like you guys say, which is quite weird, but thanks for this. Definitely going to be using this from now on for streaming Twitch :)

Wow it works perfectly! Thanks! Kinda sucks not having Twitch chat but the quality is awesome.

Download Chatty

Okay so currently the best I can watch without buffering is 360p and early today I could only watch 160p. I just set twitch to 480p and I watch the Buffer Size build up to 7sec and then once it reaches 0 again the buffering starts.

At 360p the buffer size is around 10-20sec but always maintains above 9sec so it doesn't buffer.

Paul, if we could try do the routing via the JHB network that would be great. I will PM you my details if a Tech would like to call me today/tomorrow.

Thanks

Ocotel 100/25mb with Cool Ideas. I can't stream anything on twitch without buffering... and its been an issue for the past few weeks/months. Its extremely frustrating as I stream other sites just fine.

Seems like this issue started around a week ago. I will spend the day tomorrow with the techs working out what's up.

Did you manage to get any feedback? Its still streaming painfully on myside.

Currently working with them to resolve the issue.

It's sort of a Good news Bad news situation.

Good news support are being super helpful and quick to reply, bad news is that the issue seems to be a time based issue as this morning at 3am I was watching 2x 720p60 Source streams and playing GTA 5 online and everything was smooth as butter but now at 11:30 I can't watch a single 160p stream so I have a feeling it's either the Content Delivery server can't/won't push the data as it isn't even arriving at my router (MikroTik RB2011UiAS-RM) or somewhere along the line a upstream provider for Cool Ideas is running a QoS rule which is impacting the connection.

I had an issue in the past where I could access websites hosted on AWS but my friend on Cool Ideas down the road could and the issues was a upstream provider.

I will keep you all updated.

live.twitch.tv has an absolute ton of IP addresses, so I used the specific one from your traceroute:

Note that the performance to the ingest proxies only really matters if you're trying to broadcast, not watching a stream. To the node I'm currently streaming from:

I'm actually getting a small bit of choppiness on a stream I'm watching now (but nothing major, maybe 3 or 4 streaming stalls / buffering for a few seconds in the space of an hour or so).

We are also experimenting with using our London peer and Johannesburg national for a select few the Vumatel users, we did that switch this morning. So please monitor for me and let me know as well.

Hey guys,

Recently joined the fibre master race and this is still an issue for me... I have no issues watching previously recorded streams at 1080p, but am unable to watch live...
