AFAIK it's illegal to listen into calls/monitoring text messages, but not illegal to track the phone.
 
+1 on the Enhanced 911 stuff. However, first we NEED a 911... :D

Something where you phone where it doesn't take 8 hours to get through to an emergency representative. Someone who can fluently speak English/Afrikaans/Zulu/Xhosa etc (And I don't mean the "eish" and "eeeeeh" kind of English either. Could be different reps for different languages. Be tied directly into emergency services like the Police Dispatch/Ambulance/Fire Department (without having to go through their own call centers) etc.

I call 10111. I get told to call my local police station.... WTF?

Never knew he was acquitted. I remember reading the story and even on twitter Mandy Wiener tweeted the story. But can't remember ever reading an article about his acquittal.

Any ways, I am glad he was acquitted. He never really did anything wrong imo.

When I was matric I was house sitting my parents house and while I was surfing the web my connection all of a sudden died. I checked my computer, the router and then finally the phone and the phone didn't have a dial tone! Then our dogs started going mad and the power at the house went down.

I called 10111 and those morons couldn't help me at all. I then called the Vodacom emergency number from my phone and I got the option: if this is a life or death situation press 1 otherwise press 2.

I then called my mates and they called their mates working in private security. About 5 minutes later the security guys showed up and caught 2 black guys in our yard.
