Two ADSL accounts used concurrently?

If I have two 512 ADSL accounts (Telkom ISP) is it possible to "join them" - either with hardware or software to get the equivalent of 1Mbit total bandwidth? Has anyone done this?

If this is possible and has been done I would very much appreciate instructions for how to set this up (or a link to instructions...)

But let's say I did have two phone line and two adsl routers (connected with different accounts) - can they somehow "act as one account" in terms of overall bandwidth?

Yep it is possible but you need a router and ISP that supports MLPPP ... costs a lot of $$$

great idea, however as mentioned you would need seperate lines. Once such has been connected you can bridge the connections will seperate LAN cards. The better option is go for high bandwidth account with 512KB. The other option will be expensive.

this can only achieve Load Balancing, you can get the full power out of it only by downloading 2 separate files, it will not boost the speed of 1 file, ie download 1 big movie, it will come at max achievable for one line, download 2, they will come at max achievable for 2 lines.

That is, unless your ISP supports multilinking, which it doesn't , and probably won't ever do!

Telkom dropped MPPP support about 5 months ago, so you could only do load balancing and traffic routing.

You could get a hardware appliance like a Symantec Gateway Security 360 unit - it has dual WAN ports and supports HA/LB - works pretty well. You can also set the amount of load for each of the WAN ports.
