Dont know if anyone can help me with this. For some reason I was under the impression that you could have two ADSL modems on one line.

I currently have two lines coming in here. One an uncapped IS line, the other a normal line to use normal capped accounts on.

On the normal line that deals with the capped accounts... I tried to plugin a second modem.. problem with that is that the first modem loses its connection.

Am I doing something wrong here that I am unable to put two modems on one line? Or cant you have two modems on one line? I have tried with both lines and got the same result.

You can't have two modems connected to the same phone line...this is the way it works :P

Just like u dont wan't to use two fax machines at the same time on one line..not only does it sound funny but the end results are not kosher :D

Okay, when a modem refers to PVC... what are they talking about?

I see to get two connections you basically need your modem in bridge and router mode? What if your router (Got a Billion BiPAC 5200s) does not support half bridge mode (im assuming that is the case...)

PVC = Private Virtual Circuit (Typically a dial-up connection made from a computer through the modem to the DSLAM using PPPOE)

If the router does not support half bridge mode, then you will have to put the router into bridge mode, and then each computer will have to establish a dial-up connection using PPPOE to connect to the internet.

You can also use one computer as the connection point, and share it's connection with everyone else (e.g. MS's Internet Connection Sharing or some such solution).

Half-bridged mode means that the dial-up connection can be done as well as normal router mode at the same time. i.e. Peeps can connect to the internet using the account on the router, and ALSO they can create a dial-up connection and connect that way.
