Two busted for selling drivers licence

Mahikeng - Two men, accused of corruption and fraud, were released on R1000 bail at the Stilfontein Magistrate Court in the North West on Thursday.

The North West Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation (Hawks) arrested 43-year-old Roland Ellen Erens - a licence testing examiner at the Stilfontein testing station - along with 72-year-old driving instructor Tlhakanye Shadrack Kalane on August 29.

This after Erens allegedly issued a driver’s licence in November 2016 to a woman who was not tested.

According to Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso, the woman is alleged to have taken eight lessons with Kalane at He & She driving school.

Erens is alleged to have falsely endorsed the woman on the testing sheet, saying he had indeed tested her.

The woman is believed to have met with the duo ahead of her testing date to pay them R5000.

Rikhotso said the two suspects were arrested for fraud and corruption and appeared in court on the same day.

The case was postponed to October 11.

Yeah but you were tested? I don't have a problem when the person has shown they are capable of driving but when they haven't even been on the road it's just plain wrong. Either that or get the system in order so it's actually possible to get your license and then take those that are a danger off the road.
