I have an ADSL line at the office.
I also have two ADSL accounts, one with Tiscali and one with Webafrica (whose service has been great).

I have setup the Marconi router at the office not to be permanently on, so each use must connect first.
So on my PC I now have two connections, one for Tiscali and one for WA.

What is the effect on the Telkom bandwidth if say 5 of my office users are connected via Tiscali and I am connect to WA at the same time?

you will share your bandwith between you

but each person will use only the cap on the account they are logged into

huh ? nah i believe that in doing so.. whereby each user has to use that win xp type PPPoE connection to connect to the net, they will each be in control of their own bandwidth.. ie they on tiscalli( divided by 5 not equally though ) and you on your own.

Thus as far as the cap and isp acc is concerned... they are sharing their bandwidth with each other and your bandwidth is used by you alone.

Where it does affect you though is on the throughput/SPEED of the line.. ie if they are all downloading files and you also, assuming everyone is downloading with same priority file the through put is divided between you ie 512kb/s line = 64kB/s(at best) divided by 6 = ~10.6kB/s. ie on your pc it might look like on a worse case scenario like you have a 85kb/s line. Keep in mind http traffic does not use the line alot except for media e.g. flash, pictures etc

It is an ok way to save on line costs this way since if each user has their own isp acc, they are responsible for their bandwidth only thing is speed will vary pending on what kind of traffic..
