Power was cut to New York City’s Brooklyn B and Q lines on Thursday, August 26, 2013, and it remained off for over an hour. The reason: Two kittens.

According to CBS News, a woman reported in the morning that her kittens – one black and one white with grey stripes - had become lost in the subway system. Transit workers finally spotted the kittens, and their owner rushed to the station with cat food to help the workers lure them out, but they disappeared again, only to be discovered on tracks above-ground later. It is a mystery how the kittens managed to get out from the subway into open daylight.

Half the Q line and the entire service on the B line was shut off for 90 minutes. As officials and workers looked for the kittens, train operators were warned to slow down or stop as soon as they saw anything moving on the rails, and to let the rail control centre know. Some passengers even offered to help workers scour the tracks, but they were asked not to due to safety concerns.

The kittens were finally removed in crates.

Here is a YouTube video of the kittens on the tracks.

Good to know that the world sometimes stops to take care of our innocent furry friends.
