Two new Samsung Galaxy Tab PCs unveiled

How can you make an 8 inch tablet with a 1280 x 800 resolution in this day and age? It should be illegal.

EDIT: Even worse, the 10 inch tablet has the same resolution. And you know what is disgraceful - they will charge the same as for an iPad, at least for the 10 inch version.
 
They don't seem to even have a basic desire to produce an interesting tablet.
 
What is it with Samsung and these super k@k screens?!!!

Time to set some more of your equipment on fire Samsung. This is NOT GOOD ENOUGH, not even for a cheaper tablet. Who at Samsung decides to release 2013 devices with 2012 screens? Throw him/her in the same fire ... or just fire him/her if you want to go soft.
 
WTF am i seeing things how can samsung release the galaxy tab 3 10.1 with exactly the same k@k screen as the older ones,full hd for a 10.1 inch or gtfo Samsung.

Very disappointed...I'll never buy this junk, looks like I'll have to look at the sony xperia tablet z to replace my ipad 3.Samsung has flopped in the tablet arena yet again watch their market share drop in this segment.
 
I love how this is a major victory for Intel rather than a desultory concession that they probably had to plead for.
 
Samsung also still struggles with the finer design details ... like the ugly squarish camera at the back too close to a corner that is rounded very differently. It is here where Ives nails these guys. HTC and Sony are getting there, but not these lot.

Oh, their entire aesthetic is off-kilter. That whole quasi-rectangle thing with tapered edges and bulging sides - what shape is that even meant to be? Then the camera shape (which is identical to an iOS icon shape) throws into the relief the fact that they aren't even 100% sure what they're going for.
 
Can someone tell me why one would go for these tablets and not Win8 tablets?

I still don't get it.

Is it because they were on the market before Win8 ones and therefore are cooler, i.e. they have more mind share?

Sure the apps are many but - how many apps do you really need. Let apps not be your reason, give me other more convincing reasons. Maybe I'll be convinced.

Because playing with large blocks is too much like Duplo? Now 8.1 is getting closer to Lego with smaller blocks to play with. I'll wait until MS gets to their Meccano stage.

Toshiba and Asus have both announced new tablets with 2560 x 1600 displays and Tegra 4 quad core chipsets. And Samsung wants to sell us these ****ty displays?

Isnt it amazing that Samsung's 5 inch phone has a better screen than its 8 and 10 inch tablets?

Why bother Samsung?

Yep. I also cannot get what Samsung is trying to do here. It looks like a total waste of time/resources on Samsung's side, and a total waste of money on the consumer's side. And it is not as if they are trying to compete with cheap tablets here ... they still demand a premium price. One would expect a lot better from Samsung but is this not a thing we have seen over and over ... companies that do really stupid things when they reach "god level" in this game?

Still no pragmatic point made. Except a clear demonstration of Win8 loathing with no justification illustrated.

I get it. You hate Windows on tablets. But, is your hate for it just that or is there more to it. Like possibly real tangible reasons?

Shoot, half the world wants to see MS fail in this space because they are all hooked on Android or iOS. Guess, what. It is not too late to change. The tablet smartphone paradigm is still young. We are still in the early adoption stage. The majority stages are all going to Nokia and Microsoft, like they did with Windows and MS Office and the cell phone revolution.

Most do not want to be some large fat corporation's lab rats, that's all. Let MS prove themselves first. Then people will jump in large numbers. For now I'm watching from the side-lines. With iOS and Android I know what I am getting for my money (and these things do not come cheap). With MS we are not sure. Paper promises are worthless. Show me important things that this thing can do better than the other two and I will take notice. I will. I, like most people, use what we believe are the best fit for our needs. MS have the chance to win us over, but it is not just going to happen because old Ballmer says his offering is superior. In Ballmer I have zero trust. He's exactly what Microsoft don't need at the top.

For me the real point with WP8 and Win8 is that, doesn't it make sense to use the same OS as on desktop on your tab and smartphone. Few can do without the desktop, and everything else emerges from the desktop/laptop for most. We are an emerging market and these are difficult economic times. One (I) doesn't (don't) want to spend money on devices with little pragmatic use.

One group of vital desktop apps is the MS Office suite (not your Google Docs or Libre, who uses that anyway). For me this is the most compeling reason why Win8 is great. Because I can have Office on a 'cool' tablet now. Otherwise, all other tablets (i.e. without MS Office) are pure toys. Acer sees this and thats why the Iconia W3 has Office Home & Student pre-install. It just makes sense.

For me, this is precisely why Win8 is so bad. Certain interface paradigms just do not work on the desktop. I get that a Win Phone 8 device is probably quite cool, but Win 8 on the desktop has absolutely zero appeal. I use Win8 at work all day, and I am so glad I bought that piece of software that makes it function like Win7.

I cant imagine doing anything productive with MS Office on a tablet in any case. Somehow I cant imagine working with Excel or Word would be a lot of fun on a tablet.

I also want real/full Office on my tablet. Everybody wants that, and it is imo not so smart of MS not to make it available. Yes, they believe it gives their tablet offering an important edge, but people look at far more, and need far more.

If Windows 8 was good I would buy your argument about my computer experience extending to my tablet ... but as things stand right now I hate Windows 8 and am anxious to get 8.1 on my ultrabook. I do not want to argue about the merits in choosing/liking or staying away from Windows 8 on PC because that has been argued to no end already.

All I will say is that it is going to take a HUGE advantage from MS to get me to swap my iPad Mini for one of MS's tablets. Huge. I do not want a tablets that heats up and requires a fan. I do not want anything heavier than an iPad. I do not want to struggle finding the apps I need/use every day. My tablet is still primarily a consumption and social interaction platform for me. My XPS 13 covers the rest. As I said, I am open to change and will give MS a go when I see them getting it right for my needs. Its just not there yet. It shows much promise, and on paper the concepts look good, but this time 'round I leave the lab rat stuff for others. I've had my fair share of duds and frustrations.
 
This screens from Samsung is a joke. I'm due for a upgrade and anxiously waited for the note 10.1 II, which I predicted will be available by the end of the year, but judging by these specs, the new note will also be a disappointment.

How can they go back to dual core processors???
