Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if there's a way to have two numbers on the same SIM? I have my own business (not dealing with the public at all though) and while I go out of my way to give good customer service, it's gotten to the point where I'm getting calls late at night (like 11pm). Seeing as everyone has my existing number (it's 23 years already), I wanted to get another number for friends and family without resorting to having to carry two phones around all the time.

Yes, I know iOS can be set to ignore numbers that aren't in my favourites list at night (and I'm currently doing this) but peoples numbers change. Also, it might happen that one of my kids might call from another number in an emergency at night and this will obviously be ignored.

Basically, I want to still have a number I can be contacted on at any time of night for friends and family, but the original number must be purely for business and that will go silent outside of business hours.

I'm sure there's many other business people that face the same challenge, any idea if this is possible without having another phone or a dual SIM phone? I'm kinda attached to my trusty iPhone and don't really want to replace it with (blegh) an Android device

Agree with @eg2505 , Dual Sim is the way to go. But you mention iOS. Does Apple offer dual-sim options on their phones?

Urgh, that is what I was afraid of. Thanks for the inputs so far gents.

You will need a VoIP solution since your mobile operator won't be able to give you two numbers on one sim. But obviously this is based on having a good internet connection since the call will be over internet traffic.

Otherwise, dual sim is the only option if you only want to carry one phone and get calls on the mobile network signal .

What about those Simore dual sim adaptors? Anyone ever used one?

Don't those require you to select the SIM to use when powering on? i.e. not dual sim dual standby.

Not sure, never used one. They claim auto and manual. But might suit his need to auto/manually switch after hours? I'm sure they are not dual sim standby but seems he didn't really require that..?

Have you considered getting a cheapie phone for work?

I know Xiaomi has a Redmi 9A for under R2k
with earbuds and it's a dual SIM phone if you ever need to use a third sim

Heh, I’d prefer it if family doesn’t have to remember what phone number to dial based on the time of day. Again, thanks for the suggestions. That VOIP comment is interesting. I should go and look at that actually.

Multi-tenant profile SIM technologies have existed for many years now, but for some strange reason (greed?) the local MNOs never bought them.
