We have just added a second NVR with 12 camera's onto the network. I cannot pick up the second NVR and 2 of it's cameras are appearing on the first NVR.

What can I do to make this work please.

Equipment:

Pro-Vision NVR8 16400A (1U)
Pro-Vision ****-08130GC+2G Switch

Pro-Vision NVR8 16400AN(1U) V2
2X Tenda TEF1109P-8-63W Switches

RB250GS Switch
Rain 5G router -
192.168.8.1 UniFi Flex Mini Switch

EtherNet Cable to Camera Room - connected to a 5 port switch

Camera Room:

Switch - connected to Pro-Vision /P/o/E/S/-08130GC+2G Switch
To ProVision NVR8 16400A (1U) NVR

Setup Works well - NVR IP 192.168.8.40
14 cameras With IP 192.168.41 - 192.168.8.54

This setup work perfectly well:

Now - added a second NVR a Provision NVR8 16400AN(1U) V2 with - IP 192.168.8.60
Connected to 2X Tenda TEF1109P-8-63W switches - With 12 IP cameras attached

Camera's with IP 192.168.8.61 - 192.168.8.72

The one Tenda Switches Uplink port is connected to the second Tenda switches N0, 1 port, to which the NVR is also connected. This switch is in turn connected to the same switch as the first NVR.

I cannot pick up this second NVR via HTTP or using IP Manager Tool.

2 of the camera's connected to this NVR show up on the First NVR.

This is currently running on my home network but foresee obtaining a Fiber connection to get these cameras out to the Internet, and off my network - so if I can get a setup, where I pull network cable from a switch and plug it into the Fiber Router and it is done, is the final goal.

Advice on how I might proceed further appreciated.

Hoping this helps.

Looks like nobody's biting.

Can you not fully setup one with cameras, disconnect it, then setup the second one and plug the other one back in?

Considering that.

Not sure what the issue is, but the password the bloke who installed the system, gave is not working and as it is a holiday, likely only get an answer from him tomorrow.

So I cannot get into the NVR, if I knew how to factory reset it, I would.

So stuck for now.

From what you are describing, it sounds like the 2nd NVR is not connected to the network. Hence the reason why you can't pick it up.

Regarding the new cameras appearing on the 1st NVR, this indicates a configuration issue.

There is a new more secure method to get your cameras 'out on the internet' called P2P. No port forwarding needed. Check if your systems support it.

Seems pretty obvious the second NVR is either not getting any IP, or not that IP.

Likely is on the factory default IP.

Do you have a network management tool where you could check devices?

The first or original NVR, does not support it. However there is a firmware update that will take it to a matching firmware to the second or new NVR.

However I currently cannot access the new NVR as the password given me by the installer does not work.

I am considering putting a router in between the new NVR and the 2x Tenda PoE switches. That would stop the NVR's poaching each other's cameras

I can pick up the NVR, but not the cameras attached to it.

In "IP Manager Tool", the NVR shows up on IP 192.168.8.133. Not IP 192.168.8.60, as I requested that it be setup to.

Well then that’s what you need to use to connect to it.

Static IP was likely not saved properly on not available depending on how it was setup whether on the device itself or dynamically reserved.

Yeah, if only I can get the proper password, as the password as supplied by the installer does not work. Will talk nicely to him on the morrow

The router is setup to only give Dynamic IP's out from 192.168.8.100 upwards, reseving the addresses below for device that I want to have static addresses.

Tried the default?

A router between the two NVRs on a local network is overkill.

The IP configuration just need to be done correctly.

Forgot to add that NVRs don't poach or add cameras themselves. They only act on instructions.

Therefore I suspect the configuration was not done correctly on the IP address side.

Or if it’s anything like Hikvision cameras lived on those IP’s previously and and still lived in the configuration so just popped up by themselves, because as you said it’s doing what it’s told to do.

Okay, the CMS app picks up and displays camera's on the original NVR - but says the second new NVR is off line. The same if I use the newer VMS software from Provision.

If I use a web browser - I can connect to the second new NVR fine ... , but I cannot log into the original NVR via a web browser.

Now I am wondering, if I upgrade the firmware on the original NVR will it make a difference. I have my doudts.

Will changing the port that the second NVR connects on, which is shared by both NVR's, help - maybe I should try tomorrow.

Port shouldn’t make a difference as it’s coming from two different IP addresses.

Sounds like it’s just not properly configured.

Okay, most issues I have managed to resolve.

What is left are their camera manager software - CMS ( old and deprecated) and VMS (latest version) do not accept passwords with special characters. The new NVR requires that the password have at least 1x special character.

Secondly, I can connect to the new NVR from outside my network but not to the original NVR. Am thinking that upgrading the Firmware to the same version as that on the new NVR should sort that issue.

Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement.
