Hi Guys

New to the Crypto space. Currently using GreenAddress Green wallet on Android and in the process of purchasing a Ledger Nano X

Just a quick question if I may and for illustrative purposes, I'm using the following as example, please note NOTHING illegal will be done I am simply curious how this will work...

Let's say I create two Bitcoin wallets on the SAME platform, be it a Software Wallet or Hardware...

So on my Nano X I have two Bitcoin Wallets

Wallet C (Which is my Clean wallet)

Wallet D (Which is my Dirty wallet)

I legally buy BTC on an exchange and send it to my Nano X Wallet C

I catch Mr Malema doing something illegal and he sends BTC to my Nano X Wallet D

Will there ever be a way on the blockchain to see what happened in Wallet D if you look at Wallet C's info on the blockchain. Can these Wallets ever be linked to one another because they are on the same Nano X?

It goes without saying that there should never be a transaction from Wallet D to Wallet C or Vica Versa or even from Wallet D to 4 wallets and then Wallet C.

Thanks.

TLDR; If I create two BTC wallets on the same Hardware or Software can they be linked if there's never any transactions between them. Or does the fact that they are on the same hardware/software automatically link them?

if there are never transactions between them the blockchain info alone wouldn't be enough to make a connection

but if you happen to use both with a common denominator at any point like sending to another wallet / buying / selling from the same exchange / always sending from the same IP etc ... well then you'll start leaving a trail where the dots can eventually be connected

Not afaik. All that's been stored on the nano are two separate private keys and it's basically the same as storing those keys on two separate devices across the world - they don't & can't comminucate with each other regardless of where they're stored.

Could the IP address of the device accessing two different blockchain addresses be linked? Dunno, would be a lot of effort involved to get that kind of data. If I was trading with russian arms dealers I'd access the two wallets from different computers routed through whatever vpns, proxies & TOR services possible, but for a dude trying to sell weed & accept bitcoin payment - a single hardware wallet accessing the blockchain from a single device is probably fine.
