An alleged armed robber and a policeman have been wounded in a shootout in Springs, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.

Flying Squad members stopped at the Selection Park supermarket to buy refreshments around 4pm on Monday, Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said.

"Unaware that a robbery was in progress, they were suddenly confronted by two armed suspects."

A shootout ensued, with both the alleged robber and policeman wounded in the arm. Both robbers were arrested. The wounded man was taken to hospital under police guard.

All stolen items were recovered at the scene. The policeman, 30, was taken to Parkland Clinic in a stable condition.

The two men were expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate's Court by Thursday on charges of armed robbery, attempted murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms.

Sucks when you are just trying to pull off a simple robbery and the cops stop for a donut!

Anyway, I hope the cop pulls through!

Yeah, definitely sucks when a simple thing goes south :D
Kudos to the cop though. Next time, center of mass.

Two shot in Benoni

A policeman and another man were wounded in a shootout in Benoni on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.

"In the early hours of this morning in Benoni, members of the tactical response unit were following information about a suspect in possession of an unlicensed firearm," said Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini.

When they arrived at the man's shack, police were fired at and returned fire.

The policeman was wounded in his right upper leg while the man who shot at police was wounded in both legs.

Police found two other men in the shack and arrested all three. The wounded man was taken to hospital under police guard.

A firearm was confiscated at the scene.

The men are to be charged with attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

They were expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate's Court.

Shootings happen in South Africa every day. Please, only post on the forum when someone was killed. Unless you want RPM to get bankrupt with all the money spend on extra hardrives :D

IMO if you get caught with an unlicensed/stolen firearm you get 15yrs and additional sentence for any other crime.

I am sick of all these unlicensed firearms and stolen firearms.

Pity the cops didn't kill these fkrs because their crimes will get more violent and more people will be in danger. Hope the cops are fine and well done in any case.
