Hi guys,

Since I've signed up with Sentech about a month ago (256k package), they only disappointed. I'm on the Tygerberg tower in Bellville, and pings to local servers (196.7.0.138), is fine. About 150 - 200ms. International however is a completely different story.

Have a look at this little extraction of traceroute.
Is this normal? I get about 6kilobytes per second maximum on my 256k package. Is it suppose to be like this?

And can anyone post their traceroute results (to www.google.com) here, so that I can see if its not only my connection that's sucking the living hell out of the internet.

I think my capped adsl is faster.

JayT, many of the forumites have successfully cancelled their Sucktech contracts, most of them many months after signing up. Just do a search on this forum and you will find good advice on how to proceed.

I wouldnt want to cancel my contract. Its working as expected. My bandwidth has ranged from 87GB in a month down to my lowest of 9.2GB last month. And thats not from the "crappy" speeds. I just havent been downloading as much. Take a look at the new broadband ratings. The Sentech Professional (ex 256) isnt doing to badly out of the wireless products.
- MW 256 (62%) compared to iBursts 41%

It also tops the download and upload speed categories for the wireless.

So, thanks to all those who left and made the service that much better :)

LOL you tell 'em JayT. I am personally so sick of the "cancel" posts I don't even come here anymore....

Anyone else notice that it is basically the same people (they mostly moved to iBurst)
who seem to be obsessed with MW.
They constantly come back here to post ... because it drives them insane that
MW for the most part is finally stable & reliable.
I have one piece of advice for them..... go get yourselves a life, and move on :)

ha ha hah I cancelled Sentech not so long ago and just got my iBurst modem
and with 85KB/s I laugh...... Yup I got myself real broad band... My advice to all of you
get a life... get a job... get real broadband :)

It appears that with both Sentech and iBurst it's really hit and miss. Some people are happy with the services, some people aren't.

I really hope Sentech can short out their problems because we need as many good broadband options as possible.

iBurst is still in it's infancy, there is still a great deal of potential. Once it's been around for as long as Sentech, then we can really compare the two. But as things stand now, with Sentech's lack of ethics, their lies, bad customer support and terrible service, it's totally understandable why people have no trust in the company and enjoy to complain about it. I think it's really just from frustration.

So Sentech supporters, good luck - lets hope the service goes from "strength to strength".

ROFL - a vision of Winston "Smoking" Smith holding 2 wires - one red another blue...:D

I agree though it's very hit & miss with both MyWi & iBurst, and each service has """features""" that the other doesn't.

I think each service (telkom iburst sentech) each have their proes and cons like anything. I agree with iBurst its pretty much a waiting game... When I first got Sentech it rocked my world and then things fell apart...

One thing though is I have not tied my hands with a 24MONTH contract cuz to get out of that I had to fight like a bitch... I am sure Sentech will improve over time... it has too and so does iBurst or else Telkom wins and then we are all forced to use ADSL :D

This won't happen, because Sentech don't think there is a problem --- to them, MyWireless is working perfectly as they want it to, i.e. slow.

thats the very reason why I cancelled Sentech. I think this was confrimed when Mr Ken Theron (head of customer care) said to me that no where in the universe can you get speeds of 128K... perhaps Mr Ken Theron should take a look at the compeition out there.

LOL - I think the whole of Sentech was imported from an alternate universe where customer service & support is illegal & people actually get thrown in jail for attempting such treasonous activities. Interesting that WBS managed to slip through that same portal before it closed...
