Morning guys,

Anyone know who a person can contact to claim back from the municipality due to the state of our roads. Was in Benoni yesterday - on the way back passed about 30 cars with flat tyres. My vehicle's tyre also burst as a result of a massive pothole. (This is the second tyre in 2 weeks and these tyres cost R1300 each.)

Heard on 702 last week we can claim, but can't seem to find a link to get conatct numbers.

Can anyone help ?

Our infrastructure is falling apart (thanks ANC)

I saw a HUGE one near my mouse, 3 metres!!!

Fortunately they seem to fix ours fairly quickly - probably more expediently than they used to back home.

My gripe is the way they resurface the roads - perhaps I'm use to roads that have to stand huge variants in temp but they seem to put such a thin coat on.

Instead of using modern machinery they also opt for for the (unskilled) labour intensive approach which might be good for employment figures but cant be the best method for resurfacing the roads.

Thanks for the thread. Seems like I will be fighting a losing battle to claim from the roads agency ??

The Beeld ran an article about bad roads costing your more. Well, this government and municipalities just don't give a hoot. And neither should we with regards to their policies, regulations etc.

send your grievances to a newspaper or to a tv show like 3rd Degree .
They might speed up for a while and then get back to their lazy routines again.

The roads have totally given in during the course of this weekend, due to all the rain. It seems that every time it rains, the number of potholes increases. And these aren't small potholes, they're at least 10-15cm deep. What kind of cheap ass material are they using to construct roads and repair potholes?

Government Gravy.

I hit a concrete slab on pretoria rd while they were working on the side of the road. The bastards left the suff in the middle of the road. Broke my right rear mag into pieces and bent my right front, got the front wheel sraight again but the rear was busted. Cost me R5000 for a new set. The ****ing municupality couldn't help me because they weren't sure who was dealing with the road worx that day. Such a ****ed up excuse!!! My laywer is on their case now but I don't know if anything will come from it.

go to jhb road agency website and get the contact no for the claims dept

Yeh...to bad its not easy.... I'd love to claim against the road agency or municipality for the almost 10k damage done to my car by a truck bumper left in the middle of the road at night.... I pay tax's for them to keep the roads in good order, and clear of this crap... and this is what I get?

well i claimed and in 2 months i got paid into my account

I want to claim against my girlfriend's dad. They live on a farm and the dirt road leading to the house is so horrific I might as well drive my car through the forest near by as it would probably cause less damage.
