Hi guy's

My contract is due for renewal shortly and I have been eyeing the HTC TYTN, but I hate the Vodafone branding I have seen on some of the phones people are getting from Vodacom.

What I would like to know from anybody who has used one from Vodacom and an unbranded version, is if the branding is severe. IE have they messed with icons and menu system at all. I think anything more than the splash startup screen is too much.

I would also like to be able to load the latest roms when they come out but have read that this is not possible with branded phones as I would have to wait for a Vodacom rom. Is this the case with the TYTN?

One last question, I believe MTN does not brand their phones, is this the case with the TYTN?

I have been with Vodacom since my first cell phone but it looks like I am going to have to port to get away from this branding mess....

Dude.. Go read some about this under the MTN thread also.. The TyTn one.
The Vodacom HTC TyTn is HTC/Leaf branded with the Vodacom settings cab. There is nothing wrong there! Nothing removed like Vodafone does on some other phones..

Thanks for the reply D@rk 4ngel.
I have read just about every page of every thread on the TYTN at mybroadband but must have missed / misunderstood that they were both Leaf branded (I was aware they came from Leaf). Thanks for clearing that up.
