We are planning to fly to Cape Town at the end of the year, and do not want to rent a vehicle. Would a vacation only using Uber and MyCiti be feasible? I'm thinking: Uber from CTI to apartment, for shorter outings walk, further outings use MyCiti and in the evenings and outlying areas Uber.

Anyone experimented with something similar in CT or elsewhere?

What would the fastest or most convenient or cheapest ways of getting to Century City from vredehoek be?

Are there any other modes of public transport that I missed?

We are two adults, no children.

If your journeys are between CBD, Vredehoek, Century City and Tableview/Blouberg (MyCITI), you should be good to go with Uber and MyCITI. Besides rental costs, fuel and parking a car, there's the security risk as well.

Good idea. I would do the same.

How much travelling are you going to do?

Just for example, I take Uber from CTIA to home (Bellville) which is 10 kms, my UBER charge for that is about R125.
I'm sure you will travel a lot due to the fact that you're on holiday and go sight seeing, and taking the above example in consideration, your cost per km would be much more with Uber.

I'd say hire a car, the entry level, would be more feasible in my view.

The wife and I did this last year. Airport transfer to where we were staying and then uber/MyCiti for everything else. Worked out well. Most of the touristy places are fairly close to the MyCiti stops. For the more out of the way things we used Uber. Did a fair bit of walking as well, but nothing overly hectic. Basically walking from Company gardens to V&A type of thing. Was a fun experiment and worked out substantially cheaper than renting a car.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Glad to hear that it is possible. One of the reasons for avoiding a rental vehicle is the parking overnight on the street. Cant deal with the schlep of a stolen or broken into rental.
