Uber Route/Cost Warning

I had an Uber driver take a massively roundabout route when giving me a lift home - I was pretty drunk at the time so I only noticed when it was too late. The driver claimed he had taken a wrong turn in error - but I wasn't so sure that it was in error.

I complained to Uber and the refunded me a part of the amount I was charged for the trip.

I direct the Uber guys myself and tell them to forget the GPS

Well personally if they took me on a shorter route that got me stuck in traffic for 30min I would be furious... I wish everyone would use maps to help relieve traffic because contrary to popular belief you do not know more than Google with 1000's of devices updating it every second.

Rather keep a map on your own phone open if you can.

We used Uber extensively the past weekend and the drivers kept on dropping us off at least 500m from the guesthouse. On the last trip, the driver was actually in the road where we needed to be but meters before the guesthouse, he turned off into a side road, as directed by his map - ended up dropping us a block away from our destination.
