From Douglasdale, Randburg to Park Station JHB I get a quote of R340. Is this the going rate? Seems rather hefty.

Depends on traffic and distance. If it's not peak times, it's cheaper. The distance you are trying to travel is actually quite far

It's only an estimate based on distance and time. I doubt there will be surge pricing.

I prefer Uber for shorter distances especially if the place I'm going to is quite busy and parking would be an issue.

Yeah that's why I was thinking of using them. But for that price I think maybe not.

Sounds normal for Uber Black and high for Uber X.

But I doubt you'll get a ride cheaper than X
