Hi Guys,

So my XBMC Setup works great but the PC I'm using it on always inevitably ends up being used for browsing etc. and I'd love to rather use something like an HP Microserver in the living room that'll always be dedicated to XBMC and network storage so music playback etc. would be seamless and interactive.

I'm itching to source a cheap projector and a Microsoft Kinect for PC and create a touch screen projection wall that's always there, ready to interact with...

Has anyone tried something like this? I would love to test it out and report back here but finding a cheap projector that's bright enough (resolution doesn't have to be awesome, even 800x600 is fine) isn't easy, not to mention that the Windows version of the Kinect seems to be damn expensive.

The commercial version of Ubi's software can be found here:

Here's an open source version that does the same:

Looks cool but how long till the novelty wears off?

I don't think it will if you have a permanent wall projected XBMC setup running.
I always find myself wanting to put on some music and having to sit down an PC, open apps etc. etc. ...even remotely controlling your music playback from a smartphone just doesn't always work as it should and ends up being much more of a hassle.

I think this is an awesome solution that'll fit my needs perfectly, if it works as well as demonstrated though.
It'll have to be super stable though, the kinect and projector would need to be ceiling mounted and there would have to be an easy way to switch the projection screen on and off.

Given the fact that it still needs a dedicated PC, Kinect and projector though the cost of it is the tough part given that the alternative is just to rather get a cheap but capable enough All-in-one touchscreen PC and mount it.

It would be great if you could format Windows to run at a lower DPI so that it's easier to use with a remote / airmouse. With regards to controlling XBMC, I have absolutely no issues with Yatze. It has widgets which you can assign to the lock screen even.

Yeah I LOVE Yatse, hands down the best app I've ever used and the only one I've actually bought without thinking twice.
It still doesn't give me that "interactive jukebox" feeling I want though. Another alternative is of course getting a cheap tablet and mounting it somewhere to run Yatse permanently. Hmmm.
