As per title, I have a little problem on parent's internet, a WISP that I wish not to name.

After asking one technician to login to the PowerBeam on the roof, I noticed the Transmit CCQ is jumping around 70-85%. As well as the TX/RX rates.

Is this normal, or should it be stable?
My parents is having problems watching DSTV Now, but constantly buffering, loading and dropping quality down. on a 6Mbps line.

I told my parents to just test on my fixed LTE, DSTV Now been stable and watchable.

This thing has been going on for a while though.
Speedtest look fine, but I feel that it is not enough to diagnose the situation.

I plan to stabilise the Powerbeam with some cables, as it is on a pole, against a wall, and open in the air, where the wind can catch it. Can this work?

Is there any other recommendations?

Think of it as % of frames that were successfully sent without requiring retransmission. So 100% means no packets had to be retransmitted by the radio. 70% means that 30% of packets had to be retransmitted.

Noise/interference/etc can cause low CCQ rates.

This value will appear on both the AP and the STA, and may be different values - on the AP it represents frames going from AP -> STA, while on the STA it represents frames going from the STA -> AP - note when looking on the AP you probably want to look at the per-STA CCQ values.

If you have low CCQ on one end, but not the other, it probably means that the _FAR_ end is experiencing noise but the local end is fine. Ie, if your AP has 99% CCQ, but your STA shows 50%, chances are there's interference on the AP end. Using AirView (and also regular scans - but be sure to change channel widths so you can see all the APs) can help you find other APs operating in the area and other non-802.11 sources of noise so you can pick the cleanest channel available for use.
So from the above it looks like you might have around 15-30% packet loss.
This will for sure affect streaming.
 
Assuming you are not too far away, have sufficient clearance / fresnel, this is often caused by interference at the high site. I dont believe you will be able to make much difference by stabilising the hardware.

Your WISP should fix it for you or at least diagnose and tell you why they are unable to.
 
Man what wisp giving other wisps a bad name? You can pm me. But yea ideally -65db on both TX/RX is maximum the lowest for me on both is -55db Probably a throughput problem. like @yogidabear said your wisp should fix this.

Also maybe interference from the pole and anything around it...
