Good morning all my friends
I have an interesting issue at my work.
Three (or so) years ago we installed a couple of Unifi AP's throughout the company. It works nice.
I also have recently upgraded the software and firmware to the latest version.
Now, my issue is this.
We are using a hosted Exchange, which works fine. Sometimes last year we would get kicked off our Exchange randomly - this is for all clients, Android, Windows and so on.
I checked all the PC's for the usual malware and stuff, but our network is clean.
We overhauled the Cisco gateway settings, its configuration is now optimized.
We installed a Mikrotik router for bandwidth shaping.
And yet... the disconnectivity issues with Exchange still was ongoing.
It was until we took the step of disabling the wifi completely (by unplugging the cable going to the wifi segment out of the firewall) that we were able to maintain a stable connection with our Exchange (Windows clients - all laptops and desktops running Office2007/2013 with Outlook)
Our ISP hosting our mail server reported that there's a lot of SSL connections from our company (500+)
It seems that the finger can be pointed at mobile devices for not releasing SSL connections properly, and running a couple of zombie SSL processes which bogs the Exchange server down.
On hindsight it seems that the problem most probably lies in the way the wireless network is set up, OR that the Outlook client on Android (and most probably Apple) devices does not kill off SSL connections gracefully.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue will be accepted most gracefully.
Regards
