Ubisoft is fixing broken Assassin’s Creed Unity

Good luck, I'm still waiting for them to fix Black Flag.

AC Unity is true next-gen. In fact, it is SO next-gen that it isn't even finished yet! I like to be on the cutting edge and I appreciate that Ubisoft is making games that it is still making, even weeks after you've beaten them.

I also love the forced integration with an app as well as a website. How that works is that you sign in with your uplay account to experience so many error messages that last gen could never display on screen at one time.

The game itself (no spoilers) centers around Arno, an Assasin in search of locked chests that require a cell phone game with micro transactions to open. You level him up by "hacking" into your bank account to drain real money at 60 FPS. The rest of the game runs at a solid 12 FPS which is TWICE as cinematic as a movie... No small feat! Once you've completed "playing" a website on your computer, Arno is finally ready to fall through the ground and enter a white abyss... The core challenge of the game, these moments where you simply fall into the sky that accurately existed under 1700's Paris, are some of the most nail-biting moments in any game ever made... Will the game crash? Will you have to hard reset your console? Results are random, so it will always be a surprise!

Many people just won't "get" this evolution of Assassin's Creed and should spend their time opening up a history book instead. It is there they could read up on Paris' floating people and long battle with pop-in. Even today, many Parisians only exist after you've already walked past them. It is these small details that Ubisoft has nailed and they deserve applause with tons of random audio pops just as you'd hear in the game's cinematics.

After playing this gem, I've decided to fly to Montreal tomorrow to begin playing 2018's Assassin's Creed 9. Unity's only shortcoming was that it was a little TOO finished, so I am hoping the Ubisoft guys will let me plug my controller into a broken vending machine in their studio that simply eats dollars that I put into it without delivering.

Bwahaha.

Watchdogs, Ass-assins Creed both "next gen" both full of bugs and terrible inefficient coding. Both massively over hyped.

Ubisoft clearly doesn't care about their future because sooner or later people will stop buying and stop believing the hype.

What were the problems you experienced?
I thought it ran very well.

Mostly not being able to play it at all without hacking. Ubisoft's insistence on using their own ****ty launcher/autopatcher instead of Steam.

The game ran fine if you just installed it, but it was incredibly slow and buggy, and you couldn't access any online stuff like the fleet which is for some reason also online.

When you tried updating it, it would download a bit and then stop for no reason, until you paused and resumed download, then it worked for another few hours. Once you finally had the update downloaded, you'd go into the game and be greeted with a black screen. I uninstalled and re-installed and re-patched 3 times. The forums were full of similar complaints and the only fix that ever worked was deleting a certain file. Then the game would run, much smoother, with better graphics but a lot of the text was missing and you could only use the hidden blades.

Finally I discovered my own solution, download a cracked, updated version of the game and replace the file deleted earlier with the one from the torrent. Then it worked perfectly and actually ran smoothly on max settings.

The autopatcher was still ****ed by the time I completed the game. I don't think they've even fixed it now.

They should really name these games "Mass Murderer Creed". All I can remember from Black Flag is stabbing thousands of people in the neck, but I can't really remember why they all had to die.

Played on PC with 360 Controller, can't really remember having any real issues.

I don't know about you but I did it for rum.

So . . . anybody buying AC Unity today?

Was so looking forward to playing this but after reading reviews and comments from various sources . . . I don't think I'll be getting it.

Ubisoft Tried To Hide AC: Unity's Shortcomings With Launch Day Review Embargo
Ubisoft tried to extend the reviews embargo on Assassin's Creed: Unity until the end of launch day, probably to cover up the fact that the game was pretty half-assed.

Assassin's Creed: Unity currently has a mediocre MetaCritic score of 73% with a large divide between reviews who gave the game scores ranging from 40% to 91%. Basically, the reviewers loved the game's aesthetics and new animation system but dreaded the multitude of bugs, frame rate stuttering and crashes.

"Unity feels like it was taken out of the oven too soon," said Arthur Gies in his review.

Thanks to the terms and conditions attached to the review copy of the game, most review sites were unable to publish their reviews for several hours after the game hit the market. For one, Kotaku's editor-in-chief Stephen Totilo acknowledged the oversight, affirming that he has informed Ubisoft and other companies that they will never "accept a post-release embargo tied to a review copy again."

Does not bode well.

Nd Black Flag was one of my favourite games of all time. Guess I'll give this one a skip (**** knows why they are still carrying on with the Animus ****, does anybody actually enjoy the "modern" part of any AC?)
