As soon as you update the kernel on 12.04, you will be on 12.04.1Is it really worth downloading? I am quite happy with 12.04

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Oh well, the upgrade didn't work. Hit this bug, but the workaround offered there didn't help meBeen waiting for this point release for quite a while now. Was supposed to have been released in July. I can now try updating my missus's 10.04 machine without resorting to any funny tricks.
Hit this bug, but the workaround offered there didn't help me![]()
The problem is I'm now sitting with a machine in limbo. It still boots into 10.04, and everything seems to work, but apt is totally screwed...That bug was reported 4 months ago and still has not been assigned to anyone![]()
I really didn't want to have to redo that particular machine from scratch![]()
How did you do the upgrade? update-manager or do-release-upgrade?Oh well, the upgrade didn't work. Hit this bug, but the workaround offered there didn't help me![]()
apport-cli -p update-manager -u 990740
How did you do the upgrade? update-manager or do-release-upgrade?
Can you do this, as requested in comment #16?
Code:apport-cli -p update-manager -u 990740
Gee whiz, these Ubuntu okes are arrogant. The error pops up in the first week that the point upgrade is available and it gets marked as invalid...See Bigal's post (#32) in said thread.
Marking this bug as invalid. Despite repeated requests for apport-collected upgrade logs showing this issue, none have been provided; the bug is now clearly being piled on by way of some web search, which brings us no closer to a resolution but ensures the bug will not expire out.
If someone can provide the information requested in comment #16, please feel free to reopen this report. Until then, this is not an actionable bug report.
** Changed in: python-defaults (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid
In its current state the bug is invalid and the developers' time is better spent working on bugs that are reproducible, or that have enough information to work on.Gee whiz, these Ubuntu okes are arrogant. I would mark it as pending then, not invalid...In its current state the bug is invalid and the developers' time is better spent working on bugs that are reproducible, or that have enough information to work on.
It is not marked invalid permanently, as soon as someone can provide the requested information they can continue to work on it.
There is no 'pending' status, see:I would mark it as pending then, not invalid...

It should be used conservatively as bugs marked as Invalid no longer show up in default searches
Be sure to triple-check a bug before you invalidate it
I'm just guessing, but this might be precisely why it was marked invalid; to stop people who didn't use update-manager or do-release-upgrade from finding it in the default searches.erm...

If you look in the bug now, you'll see the person who marked the bug invalid is still offering suggestions on how to fix your installation and how to send the informattion they are requesting.Sorry gingss, I'm being negative I know, but I'm sitting with the broken PC. I specifically waited for the point release before trying the upgrade, as this is what the Ubuntu boffs recommended.
