Hi

I have Ubuntu. I have purchased the USB with the image already preloaded. I set my bios to boot from USB and disabled the other boob sequences. When I boot up it says " operating system not found please insert media" any help guys. cleary I am a Linux noob:D:confused::confused:

Look on the net for a tool called "multi boot manager" or is it "multi rescue kit" ... You will need to create a bootable CD with the tools on it. Set your boot sequence too look for CD first, then reboot with it in the drive. Look in the menu for "boot managers" it will give you a list of options to launch boot rescue, boot restore etc. It's been a very long time since I needed that, so I can't remember off the top of my head, buried in one of the boot manager tools is an option to restore a Linux boot (Lilo or Grub) ... I've never had success installing the boot manager on the external USB itself and booting into Ubuntu (I can do this with Fedora though) so you might mave to install the boot manager on to your local HDD and set your boot sequence to CD then HDD. The boot manager would then ask you which OS to boot: Ubuntu on ext USB, or Win on local HDD.

Hope that points you in the right direction. Google & http://ubuntuforums.org/ can help.

Your Ubuntu has a boob sequence?

Now I am jealous! :D:D

Seriously though, ubuntuforums.org is a wealth of information, would definitely recommend have a browse around there, especially if you are just starting out with Linux and Ubuntu.

My mobo has 3 USB settings, one for USB CD ROM, one for USB HDD and one for USB ZIP, the last one is for flash drives (on my pc) try changing the options on your pc and see what happens.

if u haven't yet found a solution, look here :

I downloaded the image of EasyPeasy linux that I wanted to put onto Acer Aspire 1... put the image on USB and it also gave all kinds of excuses.
I found this little tool, you choose the ISO and choose the USB drive, and it makes a bootable usb flash drive
