Ubuntu wi-fi problems

Now I'm just waiting for the intel graphics intsaller utility to support ubuntu 15.04

Don't wamt to start a new thread. I sometimes get a "Welcome to emergency mode!" when i do a cold boot and go straight into ubuntu. why I don't know. I find what normally resolves it is booting into windows, then restarting and booting into ubuntu

Some additional info on my install: I shrunk my main drive, and installed alongside win 8.1. Secure Boot and uefi are on. Works some of the time, other times the reboot from windows workaround

UPDATE: I've managed to isolate the issue. When I shut down windows completely seems to be what causes it. if i select restart it's fine (and cold boots that follow). Quite bizarre

the workaround worked! Thank you very much for your patience and your assistance. It is greatly appreciated.
No worries, glad you got sorted.

You should use the Intel graphics driver from the Ubuntu archive rather. Why do you want the Intel graphics installer?

I dunno? Seemed like a good idea?
Nah, this isn't Windows where you need to download software from all over the place.
In Debian/Ubuntu, the idea is to get all your software from the official repositories, where it is (ideally) all tested to work together. If it doesn't work together, it's a bug and should be reported.

If you start installing this kernel from here, that patch from there, and following those instructions from some blog from 2008, you can end up with a broken system that even Ubuntu's developers won't be able to help you with.

Thanks. Doing a fresh install now. So you reckon i should stick away from updating kernel myself even if its from canoocial themselves?

UPDATE: Issue persists even after a clean install. maybe it has something to do with uefi

Normally you'll get kernel updates along with other system updates, but if you need a feature or a fix that's only in a newer kernel then I'd rather use one from Canonical/Ubuntu than from somewhere else.

Good news, managed to resolve the issue, turned fast boot/fast shutdown off in windows. Working like a charm now. UEFI enabled:)
