UFC Silver thingy

Can anyone tell me what this thing is?
My best guess is that it's just a piece of metal thats put on ice or in the deep freeze to make it cold and then put against a cut or bruise to lessen the swelling? I'm probably wrong but thats just a guess??

P.s. if it helps anything... it says "Stitch by Tapout" on it

You're not meant to put ice directly on skin. I assume that the metal is somehow more effective than a normal icepack.

Ice melts and has water running all over the place. And it burns skin (Ice burns). The metal doesn't burn or stick to the skin, it also applies the pressure and cold directly where needed where an ice pack would just cover the whole area instead of being able to apply direct pressure.
