UIF - self employed and maternity leave

So we have a little one on the way landing in April next year.

Now my wife contributed to UIF for 8 years and has been self employed for 2 years can she claim UIF for the maternity leave or not?

To be clear I am banking on a No but would be a "bonus" if she could

As long as she kept the payments up to date.

However the money has been stolen and she won't get anything. You will need to pay a bribe and it could literally take years.

She stopped working as an employer and contributing 2 years ago and has run her own business for 2 years since with zero UIF contributions.

No, then. Will first have to bring contributions up to date. However, best is to speak to a broker.

But even then, don't expect anything soon. They will find any excuse not to pay.
