I do not think thats the debate, I think its more the frequency of the events that are disturbing people. It was just the other day where that French swimming coach got gang raped in Durban.

...Seriously this is not news. Someone got mugged.... sad and wrong but seriously we have bigger crimes to be talking about. This happens all over the world. Tourists are targets.
Not excusing anything here but flying half way across the planet without reservations is stupid.

I don't think any country is more that 99% safe! In most countries however, it is usually obvious when you're in a high crime area. Sadly here any place can be a high crime area!

Keep to main roads and avoid driving at night when visiting Northern KwaZulu Natal and Zululand, as there have been incidents of hi-jacking and robbery, particularly on isolated secondary roads.
